What is a Steel Pallet?

Their main use is to make transporting and storing materials easier and more efficient, which is what every company aims to be. Steel pallets are undoubtedly becoming more common compared to wooden pallets because they have a long list of benefits which helps improve the quality of business in many ways.
Benefits of Steel Pallets:
The great thing about steel pallets is their durability and strength. Wooden and plastic pallets simply cannot withstand as much weight and force as steel pallets. If you need pallets that can hold over 285 stone and that stand the test of time then steel pallets are the only choice for you. Companies and organisations that need equipment such as pallets to be kept outdoors would often opt for steel pallets as they can better withstand outdoor conditions without breaking down. In addition to this, metal and steel functions over the widest range of temperatures meaning although steel will get hot it will not burn which can be handy in working environments containing flammable materials. The Size of a Steel Pallet
Many people know what a Steel or metal pallet is, but they do not know what kind of size they are available in. Pallets are manufactured in a range of common sizes but here at Range Storage we fabricate and manufacture almost any sized steel pallet to suit your individual needs.
In the UK there are no real ‘standards’ when it comes to sizing cage pallets, box pallets, post pallets and flat pallets. Individuals want steel stillages to suit their own specific needs. A steel stillage is three dimensional, i.e. width, depth and height.
More often than not steel stillage will be manufactured to fit in and on lorries and trailers for transporting purposes. In the UK, the base dimensions are usually 1200mm x 1000mm, (or if you prefer old imperial 48” x 40”). This sized pallet with usually be able to carry 26 units if using a full sized trailer to transport.
Height is often determined by the trailers capacity but as trailers vary tremendously in height, this is less measurable. Two 1200mm high stillages will fit within the height of the majority of transporting trailers. 
Design
Depending on what steel pallets need to be used for, their design can be altered and formed in different ways. Steel pallets can be designed to have adjustable and removable doors, detachable panels, open access and also to have legs which raise their base off the ground. Steel panels can be designed to allow them to be stacked to a maximum height which optimises space within warehouses and factories where space is everything.
